Beauty queen-turned-architect Shamcey Supsup-Lee has revealed that she wanted to be a strict mom to her newly born daughter NylaKelcey or Nyke.
“I think I’m gonna be strict kasiganun ako pinalaki ng mommy ko eh. Malamang si Lloyd ‘yung magkukunsinte,” said Supsup, during press presentation of the 2016 Bb. Pilipinas candidates at the Novotel in Cubao, Quezon City recently.
Asked if she wanted her daughter to become a beauty queen like her in the future, Supsup said: “Up to her kung gusto n’yang maging beauty queen. I’m not gonna pressure her or push her on what she wants. I’ll support her. But of course may condition ‘yun. She has to finish school first. After that, she can do what ever she wants.”
Supsup rose to fame when she competed in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant and won third runner-up. Before she became a beauty queen, she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in architecture from the University of the Philippines Diliman. In June 2010, she topped the national board exams for architects with a rating of 86.6 percent. She married Filipino-Chinese model-businessman Lloyd Lee in 2013.
Supsup, 29, said that she is busy these days as being a mother and a career woman.
“Aside from being a mom, busy ako sa business namin. We’re opening four more branches of Pedro ‘N Coi Restaurant this year. Then ‘yung architectural firm ko is the one doing the design of these restaurants. We are also doing two buildings,” she said.
“Yun ang aking day job. I go to work 2 to 3 times a week. On weekends, nasa restaurants ako. Two days lang talaga ako nasa bahay,” Supsup added.
Supsup said that she and her husband are very thrilled to have their first baby. But for now, they haven’t decided how many children then want.
“What’s so exciting about being a mom is when ’yung baby mo smiles at you. Lahat ng pagod mo nawawala and it’s all worth it. And kapag may baby kana pala, you get to appreciate your mom more kasi mahirap pala ang maging mommy,” Supsup said.
The former beauty queen said that she does not miss showbiz anymore but she is not closing her doors to opportunities that would suit her personality.
“It depends. I have to choose the projects kasi nga may baby na ako…mahirap. I have to rush home kasi I breast feed kaya dapat talaga ‘yung oras mo very limited. It depends but for Binibini I’m always here. Hanggang hosting lang naman ako at kapag may dumating na right project for me or swak sa character ko, we will see,” Supsup said.
