TEEN Queen Kathryn Bernardo has said that she is bent on pursuing a college degree in spite of her hectic schedule in showbiz.
“May mga tine-take ako ngayong general subjects at hangga’t kaya basta dapat hindi mag-stop. Sobrang hirap pagsabayin pero ang laking challenge nito sa akin pag natapos. Grabe yun! Iba pa rin pag nakatapos. Hindi naman ito forever… itong trabaho na ito (show business) so kailangan meron tayong back up,” said Bernardo, in an interview in “Tonight with Boy Abunda” aired over ABS-CBN.
Bernardo, 20, is currently enrolled in the home school program of Enderun Colleges where he is taking up fashion marketing.
She also said that she has encouraged her screen partner Daniel Padilla to go back to school.
“Napag-uusapan na namin ‘yan at gusto n’ya actually. Sabi n’ya kung ako raw nahihirapan, baka s’ya rin mahirapan ding pagsabayin. Itutuloy n’ya talaga yun someday,” Bernardo said.
Abunda admires Bernardo for giving importance to education.
“Hanga’ ako kay Kathryn sa kanyang pagbibigay oras sa edukasyon dahil naniniwala akong isa sa magandang regalo sa inyong sarili, especially if you’re a movie star, ay edukasyon. It’s priceless,” said Abunda.
Bernardo and Padilla, collectively known as KathNiel, will soon star in a new film that will be shot in Spain sometime in May. It will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Olivia M. Lamasan, who directed critically-acclaimed movies such as “Madrasta,” “In My Life,” Starting over Again,” etc.
