PO1 Don McGyver Cochico, the Philippines representative to the 2016 Manhunt International contest, has said that he will remain a policeman despite stints in modelling and male pageants.
“Public service is my top priority. Para sa bansa at mamamayan,” said Cochico, 26, when asked if he sees himself leaving the police service in exchange for a career in showbiz.
Cochico also said that he hopes to come up with his own business so that there will be more jobs for the people.
“If I have R100 million, I’ll have my own business so that I can help other people by hiring them. More jobs, more opportunities,” he said.
The six-foot policeman also said that he is not giving himself any deadline in pursuing a career in showbiz. For now, he simply enjoys every moment of it.
“Wala pa sa isip ko kung hanggang kelan ako lalabas sa showbiz. Basta sa ngayon I’m just doing my job and at the same time having fun,” said Cochico, at the formal launch of Misters of Filipinas 2016 at Resorts World Manila recently.
These days, Cochico is almost ready to compete in Manhunt International 2016 contest, whose title is still being held by Jun Macasaet of the Philippine for four years now.
Cochico said that he works hard and diet to keep his body fit and toned. He also reads a lot to keep him updated in current events.
With his good looks and charm, Cochico admits that he has received indecent proposals. But he just ignores them.
“I just laugh and shake it off,” he said, on dealing with improper proposals.
Also at the press launch were Prime Event Production Philippines Foundation Inc. President and CEO Carlo Morris Galang, Mister International 2014 Neil Perez, Karan Singhdole, Man of the Year Philippines 2015; AR Dela Derna, Misters of Filipinas runner-up 2015; Nicko dela Cruz, Misters of Filipinas runner-up 2014; Christian Mark Galang, Mister Asia Philippines 2014; and Shanice Eve Bailon, Supermodel International Philippines 2015.
