Adamson and Lyceum kept their share of the lead in the 9th PCABL (Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League) FREEGO Cup by pulling off contrasting wins last Thursday at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.
The Baby Falcons rode on a torrid start to demolish the Far Eastern University Baby Tamaraws, 83-68, while the Junior Pirates leaned on a fourth quarter explosion to beat the Arellano Junior Chiefs, 93-83, as the two teams improved their records to 3-0.
Forthsky Padrigao led Adamson’s well-balanced attack with 18 points, half of those came in the second quarter as the Baby Falcons padded their lead to 43-30.
Makki Santos and Mclaude Guadana stepped up big in the fourth, scoring eight points each to pull away for good in the tournament also sponsored by Smart, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, Hapee Toothpaste, Insular Square (Cebu), and New Pioneer Auto Supply (Cebu).
Santos went on to finish with 25 points aside from grabbing 13 boards to emerge as the Freego Player of the Game which was also won by Padrigao after he posted 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
In other games, University of Perpetual Help chalked up its first win in three games by edging San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 66-63, while Letran evened its record to 2-2 after outlasting Chiang Kai Shek College, 87-83.
