Opposition chieftain Vice President Jejomar C. Binay was one of only two presidential candidates who pledged to observe Truthful, Responsible, Upright, Transparent, and Honest elections on May 9.
Organized by local Catholic Church leaders, a covenant-signing for TRUTH was attended by various election hopefuls at the Manila Cathedral after a mass celebrated by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal G. Tagle.
Among the five presidential candidates, only United Nationalist Alliance standard-bearer Binay and Liberal Party counterpart Manuel A. Roxas II affixed their signatures on the covenant.
Aside from TRUTH, Binay also vowed to promote at all times βan unequivocal respect and reverence for life.β
The Vice President previously bared his commitment to uplifting the lives of every Filipino and respecting the value of life.
βI have dedicated my life to fighting for the poor: As a human rights lawyer during Martial Law, as mayor of Makati, and as your Vice President. My presidency will be one that respects and upholds the dignity of women, children, and the marginalized. My presidency will promote respect for human rights and the value of life,β Binay said.
