A fact-finding probe is now being conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation Death Investigation Division on the existence and the supposed involvement of presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte in the Davao Death Squad.
Acting Department of Justice Secretary Emmanuel Caparas said that NBI is now on its investigation stage on the alleged unexplained killings initiated by the DDS.
In June 2015, then DoJ Secretary now senatorial candidate Leila M. de Lima revealed plans to investigate Duterte as allegations of his involvement with the DDS and the killings were serious and disturbing.
However, NBI has yet to validate the allegations and build a case against Duterte. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
