MEGASTAR Sharon Cuneta has announced that she will be one of the coaches for the third season of the hit realty singing competition “The Voice Kids” Philippines.
Cuneta made the announcement during her renewal of vows with husband former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, as reported by “TV Patrol” news program aired over ABS-CBN.
The megastar replaced pop star Sarah Geronimo who has earlier said that she wanted to focus on “ASAP” variety show and other projects that will improve her skills as an artist.
Geronimo, however, said that she is open to coach the “The Voice Kids” in future seasons.
Cuneta, 50, will join other coaches Broadway star Lea Salonga and Bambo for the singing competition.
“One of the first surprises I have for you is I will be part of the Voice Kids with, of course, Bamboo and Ms. Lea Salonga. I can’t wait to be with them, with the kids and be with you every week,” said Cuneta.
She also teased fans that she is preparing for some big things and has focused on losing weight.
“To all my supporters and fans, my Sharonians whom I love very much, alam kong ang tagal kong nawala sa Facebook, ‘di ba? Sadya po ‘yon. I have been hibernating. I have been in hiding because I have been working on myself para i-surprise kayo. Hindi pa ako tapos pero I have lost quite a lot of weight preparing for something really big. Hindi lang lang something kundi a few things. Sobrang excited ako ayoko mag-FB baka hindi ko matiis sabihin,” Cuneta said.
After she terminated her contract with TV 5 in 2014, Cuneta signed a contract with ABS-CBN where she worked for 23 years.
Cuneta’s first project for the Kapamilya network was one of the judges for the singing and impersonation celebrity program “Your Face Sounds Familiar” which started to air in March 2015.
“The Voice Kids” Philippines has already produced two winners – Lyca Gairanod (2014) and Elha Nympha (2015).
