ZAMBOANGA CITY – The notorious Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) finally released on Tuesday the daughter of a Chinese trader whom they snatched on May 22, 2014 from her family-owned videoke bar in Isabela City.
ASG sub leader Hairula Asbang released Yahong Lim Tan, 21, at about 10:30 a.m. to her mother Dina Lim Iraham, 47, after her family paid the bandit group P300,000 ransom.
Police sources at the Sulu provincial police office disclosed that the payment of ransom was done at Sitio Kantitap, Barangay Danag, Patikul, Sulu.
After the release, the victim together with the mother boarded a Tamaraw jeepney going to Jolo, Sulu, the capital town of Sulu, where they rode a fast craft at 1 p.m. for Zamboanga City, the source said.
The mother and her daughter were kidnapped by the ASG members in military uniform in their videoke bar in, Jolo, Sulu, at 9 p.m. on May 22, 2014.
The group released Dina but kept the daughter until the family was able to pay the ransom demand.
The victim’s father remains a Chinese citizen despite marrying a local 10 years ago, police said.
