Administration standard-bearer Mar Roxas went on a four-province campaign sorties in Bicol yesterday to strenghten his footing on Bicolano votes after the Liberal Party’s staunchest ally in the region had dumped him in favor of one of her female rivals.
First stop was Catanduanes where hundreds of people trooped to the Virac Plaza where Roxas presented his platform of government, including his plan for the farmers, fishermen and poor families of the island province.
In his speech, Roxas vowed to improve the connectivity of Catanduanes to the mainland Bicol and the entire country through infrastructure and telecommunication projects.
“Catanduanes should be connected to information highway since it will greatly improve business, education and tourism of the province,” said Roxas.
Roxas said the connectivity of Catanduanes was already started with the construction of an airport but he vowed to deliver more if elected.
Next stop was Sorsogon where Roxas was invited as a guest of a local radio station.
Sorsogon is the home province of vice presidential candidate Francis Escudero but the mayor of Sorsogon City, Sally Lee, said she will be supporting Roxas and his runningmate Leni Robredo.
“I am looking for one who will sing the same tune when it comes to good governance. I can work with him for the betterment of this country. I believe that we can change this country through good governance,” said Lee of Roxas.
“Let’s be true to ourselves, let’s return the hope for our country. Let’s believe that we still have hope. It will be Mar and Leni on May 9,” she added.
In the afternoon, Roxas proceeded to Legazpi City where he met with local and barangay officials and member of the so-called Silent Majority.
