Actress Heart Evangelista has praised her husband Senator Chiz Escudero for giving a good fight in the vice presidential race last May 9.
“Proud of you darling. Kahit ano mangyari pinatunayan mo na MALINIS ka at di ka nanakit para lang manalo. One of a kind,” tweeted Evangelista.
As of Tuesday, independent candidate Escudero was ranked fourth in the partial unofficial tally for vice president.
Ahead of him were Rep. Leni Robredo, Sen. Bongbong Marcos, and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.
Moments after Escudero voted last Monday, he said that he would leave the results of the national elections to God.
“Thy will be done. Kung anong kaloob ng Diyos, ‘yon ang dapat mangyari at ibigay sa lahat ng tumatakbo,” the senator said in GMA-7.
Evangelista, 31, earlier said in an Instagram post that she almost cried when her husband thanked her while casting their votes in Sorsogon.
“Right before voting…he whispered ‘thank you’ I smiled but really I almost cried ! Haha I will be equally happy whatever happens because I’ve got the most amazing man ever❤️ I love you so much my darling:) cheers to a whole life together:) thank you also for always asking me how I am when you’re the one sleepless and running:) thank you for being selfless and kind …you are indeed special❤️ God bless us all!:),” the actress-author said.
A day before the elections, Evangelista praised her husband in another IG post for keeping his hands clean during the campaign season.
“My dear Chiz, the campaign season is over and I toast to your success, though the people have yet to make their choice known;
“Through it all you have remained true to who you are, no lies, no gimmicks, no exaggerations…While many slung mud on each other, you kept your hands clean…;
“You stayed sober and focused on what you have done and can do for the country while everybody else went wild chasing victory, hurling insults at their opponents;
“You taught me that politics need not be dirty or desperate. And, win or lose, as I watched you talk to the people, shake their hands, listen to their stories, you taught me to have a lot more faith in the Filipino;
“You gave me hope. You have won me over and over again, especially because you have taught me to love my country, our country, so much more. It has been a privilege to stand right by your side in this campaign!!! I love you my darling darling sweet love:) God’s will be done:)” she said.
Evangelista and Escudero, 46, got married at the Balesin Island Club in Mauban, Quezon on February 15, 2015.
