JODI Sta. Maria has started shooting with Richard Yap and Ian Veneracion for a still untitled romantic comedy film under Star Cinema.
“I’m really very excited to be working with both of them. I respect them both and I appreciate them both. This is going to be an exciting project. Una si Richard Yap then later si Ian Veneracion naman. And now kasama ko na sila,” said Sta. Maria, in an interview for the morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” over ABS-CBN.
Sta. Maria, 33, was paired with Yap in the popular morning serye “Be Careful with My Heart” while Veneracion in “Pangako sa ‘Yo.”
The crowd in the story conference for the new film laughed when Veneracion, 41, joked: “Nung pumasok ako kanina nakita ko magkatabi sila Jodi at Richard. May konting selos lang naman. Pero na-control ko naman.”
“I think it’s bringing out the best of both worlds para happy lahat,” Yap, 48, said.
To be directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the movie tackles the story of a woman who remains single at 30 and the problems she encounters related to it.
“Tina-tackle dito iyong tingin ng mga Pinoy sa isang 30-year-old na babae na kapag single siya, may mali na sa kanya. Kapag single ka ng ganoong age, para ka nang may sakit na nakakahawa na dapat agapan,” said Jadaone.
Jadaone, popularly known as the Blockbuster Hugot Director of the Philippines, debuted as a director in “Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cantapay” in 2011.
But it was in her film “That Thing Called Tadhana” which she wrote and directed in 2014 that she became popular.
Jadaone, 32, also directed the primetime series “On the Wings of Love” starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
She also wrote “Ekstra,” “Da Possessed,” “English Only, Please,” You’re My Boss,” “Walang Forever,” and “All You Need is Pag-ibig.”
