ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) operating in Sulu province released Tuesday a Filipino-Chinese captive in Lapuyan in Zamboanga del Sur at sundown Tuesday.
Zamboanga City Central Police Office spokesman Senior Inspector Helen Galvez said ASG sub leader Alhabsy Misaya released Rian Tan Nuñez on Cawa-Cawa Boulevard in this city about 6 p.m., last Tuesday.
Nuñez, 21, is a resident of Lapuyan in Zamboanga del Sur and the grandson of Antonio A. Tan, another kidnapped victim of Misaya, whose fate has remained unknown to date.
It was not known when and where the ASG kidnapped Nuñez and his grandfather and who negotiated the release.
The police here said they have no knowledge about the incident.
Galvez said the immediate family members of Nuñez fetched him in this city Wednesday night and brought him to their hometown in Lapuyan.
It was unclear if ransom had been paid to the group of Misaya prior to the release of Nuñez.
The ASG is known for collecting ransom from their captives before releasing them to their families.
Nuñez said the group of Misaya has separate him from his grandfather and never saw each other since then.
