With four championship stints in the last five conferences, Alaska management rewarded its coach Alex Compton by signing the American mentor to a three-year contract extension.
The agreement was completed a few weeks ago, or even before the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals between Alaska and Rain or Shine, which won the title to frustrate the Aces’ championship bid.
The signing of the 42-year-old Compton was first reported by Spin.PH.
Alaska team official Richard Bachmann could not be contacted for confirmation. The team is in vacation after losing to ROS in the finals last Wednesday.
Compton joined Alaska’s coaching staff back in 2013, and after coach Luigi Trillo stepped down from his post two games into the 2014 Governors’ Cup, management appointed the former Cornell standout as head coach.
Under the tutelage of Compton, the Aces made the finals four times, losing in the first three to San Miguel Beer.
