TARANTA IN CANNES: The surge of mixed emotions, she says now, was spurred by genuine surprise, and the presence of family.
Newly proclaimed 2016 Cannes filmfest best actress Jaclyn Jose says it helped that her daughter, Andi Eigenmann, stood beside her on the Cannes stage.
“That was the supreme moment. Katabi ko ’yung anak ko, mas lalo akong naging emotional, nawala lahat words ko,” she told an excited media at a reception held in her honor at GMA Tuesday night.
Jaclyn’s homecoming (she arrived from France that same evening) had been timed with the media launch of her new TV series, “A1 Ko SaYo,” where she plays another campy character.
It is a far cry from her award – winning serious role in Ma’ Rosa, where she plays a mother forced to sell drugs in her impoverished neighbourhood to sustain her family.

TIMELY MA’ ROSA: Jaclyn issued an appeal for government to be stricter in implementing anti-drugs laws to protect the youth. At the same time, she asked the audience to watch “Ma’Rosa” when it finally opens in the country sometime soon.
What has been the impact of her Cannes victory to her as a person, as an actress?
The multi-awarded actress, known for her understated acting, said the award led to a realization that she should be more responsible in her choices. ‘I want to inspire other actors, and people in general with this win,” she said.
Jaclyn is the first Filipino, and also the first from Southeast Asia, to ever win an acting award at Cannes, said to be more prestigious than the Oscars.

COMEDY ACTRESS DIN SIYA: Jaclyn isn’t bothered that her first acting assignment after winning in Cannes is a comedy series, where she goes carricaturish.
“A1 Ko Sa’yo” is described by its director Randy Santiago as a sexy comedy program about women in the entertainment-modelling circuit.
The story revolves around Digna Molina (Jaclyn), a tactless and frustrated beauty pageant aspirant who is in search of her perfect beauty queen as she manages A1 Talent Agency. She is married to Rolly Molina, a marriage counselor, who always fails to give her romance which in turn makes her uptight and short-tempered when facing her talents.
The weekly series also stars Solenn Heussaff, Gardo Versoza, Sef Cadayona, Benjamin Alves, Roi Vinzon, Ervic Vijandre.
“A1 Ko Sa’y0” airs every Thursday night beginning June 2 after Juan Happy Love Story on GMA Telebabad.
