The line of communication has not yet formally opened but this early, vice president-elect Leni Robredo has declared her 100 percent support to president-elect Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Robredo said that after the formal proclamation, she will initiate ways to schedule a courtesy visit to Duterte, probably in Davao City, where he is currently holding office to accommodate well-wishers and applicants for his administration.
“If the proclamation pushes through on Monday, I will find ways to at least pay courtesy visit to assure him that he has my support,” said Robredo.
Even before the campaign period started, Robredo has been very vocal about supporting whoever is elected as president although she said that it would have been better if it would be running mate Manuel A. Roxas II.
Robredo declared her support to whoever is elected president because the welfare of the Filipino people should come first than politics.
“For me, it is but right to assure him that he has my 100 percent support and cooperation,” said Robredo.
“That is my obligation to the country, not only to President Duterte. This is our obligation to the people because if we work together, it is the people who would benefit,” she added.
Although they are already convinced that she won the May 9 elections, Robredo said she never attempted to reach out for Duterte until such time that the proclamation of winners is done by the Congress. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
