Reports have reached the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) that there are some public utility vehicles (PUVs), particularly UV Express, that discriminate against its passengers by only allowing those who are slim to get on board.
According to reports, the front seats of said UV Express carry the sign “slim only,” but LTFRB board member Ariel Inton said this is not allowed.
“Bawal ang diskriminasyon sa mga mananakay,” said Inton.
Even though the signages are funny, Inton said that discrimination has been prohibited under the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and LTFRB.
People have been complaining that UV Express drivers are selective when it comes those who get in front of the van.
They reportedly want want women to sit in front and not men. There are even some drivers who say the front row seats are “reserved” when someone who is fat tries to sit there, but then immediately offers the seats when a slim and beautiful passenger comes along. (Czarina Nicole O. Ong)
