(The Arena, San Juan)
1 p.m. – IEM vs Sta. Elena (men’s)
4 p.m. – Bali Pure vs Iriga (women’s)
6:30 p.m. – UP vs Baguio (women’s)
Bali Pure and Iriga City try to untangle themselves from a logjam in the middle standings even as University of the Philippines (UP) and Baguio seek their respective first wins today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The Water Defenders and the Lady Oragons square off at 4 p.m. as both teams hope to catch up with pacesetters Air Force and Pocari Sweat atop the leaderboard with their similar 1-1 win-loss records.
The Lady Maroons and the Summer Spikers, meanwhile, clash at 6:30 p.m. with high hopes of finally crawling out of the 0-2 hole at the cellar.
Bali Pure is expected to ride the momentum of its hard-earned 18-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19, 15-13 triumph over National University two days ago, where Gretchel Soltones debuted for the squad with a bang with 23 hits.
Soltones, a former San Sebastian standout, missed the team’s first match against Air Force after competing and training in a camp in Europe.
Alyssa Valdez still remains a doubtful starter for the Water Defenders due to same training commitments as Soltones, but former Ateneo standout Amy Ahomiro, Dzi Gervacio, and Ella De Jesus, and former San Beda player Janine Marciano are slated to step up in her temporary absence.
Iriga, which is coming off a weeklong respite, aims to follow up its straight set win over Baguio and match its rivals’ firepower with Grazielle Bombita and Luna Alvarez at the forefront of its attack.
