Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. yesterday said his meeting with incoming president Rodrigo Duterte was just a “courtesy call” and has nothing to do with the signing of a coalition agreement between the Liberal Party and Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
The outgoing House chief, the LP vice chairman even appealed to media to stop speculating on his reported alliance with the majority coalition.
“I am not going to sign anything on this trip. From my point of view, it’s a courtesy call on the new President,” he said in a text message.
Reports earlier said he already decided to join the camp of incoming Speaker and Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez.
“Please don’t speculate, I’ll tell everything when it’s completed,” Belmonte said. (Charissa M. Luci)
