TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte – Tacloban city police are hunting down a lawyer in connection with the gun-slaying of an architect inside the Leyte Normal University (LNU) here last Monday.
Senior Supt. Domingo Say Cabillan, Tacloban City police director, said they are investigating the killing of Architect Jess Archimedes A. Moscare, 50,of Lolita Homes, Brgy. Guindapunan, Palo, Leyte.
Police said they are looking for Lawyer Aquilino A. Mejica, 42, a resident of Kassel City Subdivision, Brgy. 91, Tacloban City, after being tagged as suspect in Moscare’s death.
Citing initial investigation, Cabillan said Moscare was found bloodied with bullet wounds at about 12:28 p.m. Monday by his co-employee, Engineer Ramberto B. Cidro.
Members of Tacloban Rescue Unit rushed the victim to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival.
Police probers led by Police Senior Inspector Darwin A. Morallos found two spent shells of .45-caliber pistol from the crime scene.
Cabillan said that based on footages from a CCTV installed outside the school premises, the suspect, who was carrying a bulging envelope, entered school campus and proceeded to the one hour prior to the killing. Minutes after, the suspect was seen hurriedly leaving the school campus, still carrying the said envelope.
Officials of the Leyte Normal University (LNU) have barred members of the local media from entering the university campus and be interviewed about the shooting incident. (Nestor L. Abrematea)
