Outgoing Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong’’ R. Marcos Jr. is not giving up the fight for the vice presidency.
Marcos’ camp revealed that it would file an election protest before the June 29 deadline.
The National Board of Canvassers composed of select members of the Senate and the House of Representatives has declared pro-administration Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo the winner in the six-person race for vice president with Marcos trailing her by more than 200,000 votes.
But the camp of Marcos has long maintained that the vice presidential election was pockmarked with technical fraud.
Marcos’ six-year term ends on June 30, the end of the 16th Congress.
Lawyer Jose Amor Amorado, head of the BBM legal team and Abakada party-list Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz, political adviser of Marcos, revealed the existence of a “Fourth Server” which had been kept secret from the public by the Commission on Elections and Smartmatic.
“Yes, definitely we will file an election protest. The truth has to come out – one way or another,” Amorado said. (Mario B. Casayuran)
