Tropang TNT has gotten the services of NBA veteran Jason Maxiell for the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup set to start July 15.
TNT coach Jong Uichico said in a text message yesterday that Maxiell has agreed to play for the Tropa.
“Yes he is scheduled to arrive Monday morning,” said Uichico.
Having played for 10 years in the NBA, the Tropa believe Maxiell could help them win another championship.
A first round pick of Detroit (26th overall) during the 2005 NBA Rookie Draft, Maxiell played for the Pistons for eight seasons. He was a key member of the Pistons playoff team for three seasons, from 2007 to 2009 averaging 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds.
The 33-year-old Maxiell, a native of Chicago, Illinois and a product of Cincinnati, has NBA career averages of 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds that saw him play for the Orlando Magic (2013-14) and the Charlotte Bobcats (2014-15).
Recently, he played for the Tianjin Ronggang in China.
