Treat Huey failed to earn a direct berth at the 2016 Rio Olympics after becoming unsuccessful in making the required ranking grade in the men’s doubles.
Huey landed at No. 25 this week following a third-round finish at the French Open doubles with Belarusian partner Max Mirnyi, a far cry from his campaign to make into the elite Top 10.
In order to earn a direct acceptance and bring a Filipino netter regardless of his partner’s rankings, Huey must make it into the Top 10 by June 6.
He failed to come close at the start of the season, despite a quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open in January and an Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour 500 title victory in Acapulco, Mexico with Mirnyi in February.
