Two-thousand nine suspected ecstasy tablets valued at P3 million shipped from the Netherlands through door-to-door delivery have been seized in an anti-drug operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force in Paco, Manila.
Customs Deputy Commissioner for Enforcement Ariel Nepomuceno yesterday said the CAIDTF under the supervision of the Customs Enforcement Group
received information that a package of orange ecstacy tablets recently arrived in the country.
They went to the Manila Post Office and coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for a controlled delivery operation to monitor the transport of the illegal drugs from the post office to its real claimant.
“This controlled delivery operation was carried out and is consistent with the direction of the Enforcement Group to pin down and prosecute those directly involved in drug trafficking instead of just the usual bogus consignees,” it said.
Members of the CAIDTF placed the recipient, identified as Sandra Nebrida, under arrest after she received the prohibited drugs. (Raymund F. Antonio)
