TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Some cities and municipalities in Cavite province have general ordinances on curfew hours for minors, as well as against drinking and illegal gambling in public places, but the concerned authorities have been lax in implementing the local decrees.
Officials relegated the ordinances on the curfew hours for minors, public drinking and gambling to barangay (village) and police officers but the latter have yet to show stringent actions against the concerned violators.
Cavite is the country’s most populous province with over four million citizens residing in 829 barangays. The youth and the minors comprises 60 percent of the population, based on estimate.
Some areas in the province are crime-prone as gleaned from reports of police now and then.
The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office confirmed recently that there are a number of theft and robberies, drug, rapes, acts of lasciviousness, child abuse and homicide incidents with the cases being filed now and then in the turf. (Anthony Giron)
