Malacañang said yesterday that the government is all set for the opening of classes on June 13.
Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. asked for the cooperation of the public in ensuring that the youth will have a smooth opening of classes.
“Nananawagan tayo sa ating mga kababayan na pairalin natin ang diwa ng bayanihan. Magkapit-bisig at mag-tulungan tayo para tiyakin ang maayos, tahimik, at maaliwalas na pagbubukas ng school year 2016-2017 sa darating na Lunes,” Coloma said.
Coloma said that the government has tapped concerned agencies to ensure a smooth first day of classes.
He said that aside from the Department of Education, the Department of Public Works and Highways ensured the completion of schoolbuilding projects while the Department of Trade and Industry monitored that prices of school supplies and the Department of Health conducted education and prevention campaign against diseases, including dengue fever prevention.
Coloma said law enforcement agencies are also on alert to ensure the safety and security of children who will be going back to school, noting the “Oplan: Ligtas Eskwela” of the Philippine National Police.
“Sa programang ito ay inuutusan ang lahat ng tanggapan ng pulisya na magsagawa ng foot patrol at mobile patrol sa paligid ng mga paaralan at tiyakin yung police visibility,” Coloma said, adding that the PNP had also been directed to set up police desks in schools all year round. (Madel S. Namit)
