CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Operatives of Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Task Group of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera raided Saturday three big marijuana plantations in Tinglayan, Kalinga, destroying some P5.18 million worth of fully grown plants and seedlings.
Chief Superintendent Ulysses Abellera, regional director, said police burned on site a total of 23,900 fully grown and 10,000 marijuana seedlings.
Abellera said the raiding team reached their first target site – a 1,000-square meter plantation at Sitio Balete,Barangay Loccong – at 8:10 a.m. last Saturday, where they burned marijuana plants and 10,000 seedlings worth P1.2 million.
The other team raided at 9:20 a.m. the second plantation – a 1,600-square meter lot at Sitio Challet – and eradicated 14,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P2.88 million.
Another 200-square meter plantation was discovered by lawmen at Sitio Chalog and uprooted 3,500 fully grown marijuana plants worth P.7 million. (Zaldy Comanda)
