CEBU – Fifty-three police officers received certificates of commendation and more than R1.6 million worth of cash incentives for their successful anti-illegal drugs operations.
The Cebu Provincial Government handed the cash reward and certificates to the policemen who have made successful operations against illegal drugs.
The 14 drug operations in the province led to the confiscation of at least 1,000 grams of shabu during the first quarter of this year.
The Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) also conducted 12 operations that yielded 863.09 grams of the illegal drugs.
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III, who led the awarding, congratulated the police officers for their accomplishment against illegal drugs.
He said giving of cash incentives will continue as one of the administration’s priority agenda.
The governor commented on the decrease of price of shabu in the province lately amidst various drug raids conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In Cebu City, incoming Mayor Tomas Osmeña has offered P50,000 cash rewards to policemen who can kill a known drug personality and P5,000 to those injured and arrested.
A well-known top level drug lord in Cebu has already expressed his intention to surrender to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte if his personal safety and that of his family will be assured. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
