International singer Charice Pempengco has admitted that her partner Alyssa Quijano is her comfort zone.
The singer is amused by comments saying that she looks like one of the sons of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“Pag kinakabahan ako titignan ko lang s’ya. During interviews, tumitingin ako sa kanya palagi. Kahit sa mga concerts, hindi ako pwedeng hindi ako titingin sa kanya, especially pag kinakabahan ako,” said Pempengco, in an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN.
Pempengco, 24, said that the first thing she does as soon as she wakes up is to embrace Quijano.
After same-sex marriage was legalized in the US, Pempengco has said in multiple reports that she planned to marry Quijano soon.
“Kung plans lang, may plans talaga but dates or anything, wala pa. Siyempre nandoon pa kami sa focused muna kami sa kung anong ginagawa namin ngayon. Trabaho muna, ipon muna,” she said in a separate interview.
Quijano and Pempengco became a couple in 2012. It was only in June 2013 when Pempengco introduced Quijano as her girlfriend.
Pempengco has maintained that she is gay and vowed never to wear evening gowns and skirts again.
“Marami na ring questions na binabato sa akin kasi nalilito raw sila. The truth is dito sa atin po parang ang accepted lang sa kanya na words ay bakla at tomboy. The rest is confusing hindi na ma-explain. When I came out years ago I said opo tomboy ako;
The singing sensation also said she is amused when people tell her that she looks like Sandro Marcos, son of former senator Marcos.
“I am amused. Tayo namang mga Pilipino we love comparing people when we see a person. Nung nakita ko ‘yun and I saw his tweet, I’m glad that he is not bothered by it. And I wish him well and his family,” Pempengco said.
These days, Pempengco said that she is busy finishing her new CD called “Catharsis.”
She said that the new album, containing 12 songs, is a shift from pop to rock.
“For the first time I wrote songs and we will include a cover version. I also wrote a Tagalog song for my kababayan,” Pempengco said.
They have recorded some of the tracks, including the carrier single “Epitome of Beauty” which will come out on June 13.
Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the “most talented girl in the world,” Pempengco made history when she became the first Filipino singer and Asian artist to enter the Top 10 of the Billboard Chart Hot 200 albums in 2010. Her international studio album “Charice” peaked at No. 8.
Her song “Pyramid,” a duet with Iyaz and lifted from the same album, also made the Hot 100 chart.
Pempengco’s second international album was “Infinity” released in 2011. On the same year, she also appeared in Season 2 of the hit American musical-drama-comedy television series “Glee.”
