Actor Baron Geisler has said that he is ready for the mixed martial arts match with indie actor Kiko Matos at the Valkyrie at the Palace in Taguig City on June 25.
But Geisler, 34, has vowed to leave behind his vices after the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) bout with Matos.
“Andun pa rin respeto ko pero if you want this fight kako sige, I have been visualizing this fight every night,” said Geisler, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” over ABS-CBN recently.
“After this fight, I will not smoke and I will not drink. That’s a challenge for me, not kay Kiko Matos, because health is wealth,” said Geisler, who has just signed a contract with URCC, along with Matos for the much-awaited fight.
The URCC fight materialized following a heated scuffle between the two actors inside a bar in Morato, Quezon City sometime in May.
“Me and Kiko wanted to settle it sa street fight but pinik-up po ng ABS-CBN. Pinik-up din ng URCC. I think it would be better to settle our differences,’’ Geisler said.
Geisler also said that he is taking part in the special exhibition to campaign for the release of political prisoners. “Everything I do now is for a cause. It’s not all about me. It’s not all about you. It’s about Him and other people na naa-agrabyado.”
The actor also said that he finds it hard to go out these days because of impressions that he is a crackhead.
“People think I’m Bruce Lee. But I try to be nice to girls, to people.”
“But people would just hit my head from behind. That’s why may lumabas na video na nagwawala ako,” Geisler said.
Geisler recalled: “I just went out and I told this girl ‘you know, you are so beautiful. I will help you go downstairs.’ Tapos naglalakad na ako pabalik ng aking hotel, biglang sinuntok na lang ako sa likod.”
Geisler said that he could not recall any untoward incident involving Matos in the past.
“I was trying to shake his hands. I was trying to be a gentleman and then he will do that to me?” Geisler asked.
“I don’t know what’s going on with Kiko Matos. Doon lang kami nagkakilala. But he’s a good actor. Marami na pala syang nagawang indie films. Nag-research kasi ako about him.”
Geisler also stressed that he is not a typical celebrity. “I’m not your typical movie star. I’m just human. I have feelings at punong-puno ako ng pag-ibig at marami akong minamahal sa buhay.”
Geisler is a multi-awarded actor on films and television. His most recent TV appearances include prime time shows “Bridges of Love,” “Nathaniel,” and “Ang Probinsyano.”
