The Commission on Elections yesterday granted the request of the Liberal Party and its standard-bearer in the May 9 polls, Manuel A. Roxas II, to extend the filing of their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures until June 30.
Voting 4-3, the Commission en banc decided not to approve the recommendation of Campaign Finance Office head Commissioner Christian Robert Lim to deny the request.
Those who voted to give the administration party and its presidential candidate more time to file their SoCEs are Commissioners Arthur Lim, Al ParreƱo, Sheriff Abas, and Rowena Guanzon.
Poll body Chairman Juan Andres Bautista and Commissioners Luie Guia and Christian Robert Lim voted to deny the request.
Roxas and his party have asked for a 14-day extension of their SoCEs due to voluminous documents they have to submit.
The original deadline for the filing of the SCE was last June 8. (PNA)
