TRIUMVIRATE – Who are the actors who belong to the A-1 List?
At Star Cinema, Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz right away come to mind by virtue of their box-office hits.
How about Jericho Rosales? Yes, but he isn’t as big at the “takilya” as Piolo and John Lloyd. But lately his starrers have been doing quite well at the box office. Also Echo has an Urian (best actor) for the indie “Alagwa.” A big plus.
Years back, Piolo also won an Urian (best supporting actor) for “Dekada ’70,” which also gave him the Star, FAMAS, Academy, and Metro Manila Film Festival awards. Yes, a grandslam.
Will Lloydie win an Urian this year for “Honor Thy Father”?
So there, the triumvirate of Pascual, Cruz, and Rosales.

OTHERS ON THE LIST – Also on the A-1 List from Star Cinema are Coco Martin and Vice Ganda. Aside from being big-screen moneymakers, Coco and Vice are television topraters.
Think “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” the Coco starrer which averages 40%. Vice’s “Showtime” and “Gandang Gabi” are also doing well, rating and earning.
Dennis Trillo is both multi-awardee and moneymaker… on big and small screen. In fact, among his contemporaries, Dennis has the most acting trophies.
Dingdong Dantes, while a GMA artist, has a number of blockbusters for Star Cinema. But then GMA Films hasn’t been producing movies lately. But he’s a reliable actor and host for GMA television shows.
Not to forget Vic Sotto, whose “Eat Bulaga’s” been airing for three decades. Bossing is a Metro Manila Film Festival moneymaker.
Ditto Derek Ramsay, also an athlete.
How about Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, Matteo Guidicelli, Vhong Navarro, Zanjoe Marudo, Tom Rodriguez, Alden Richards, Xian Lim, Daniel Padilla, James Reid, Enrique Gil, Ejay Falcon?
In time… perhaps, perhaps.
