Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Jessie Dellosa has resigned from his post to give the new administration a free hand to choose his succesor.
Dellosa sent two separate resignation letters Friday to Malacañang and in the office of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte in Davao.
The former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff said he resigned ahead of the turnover to remove the notion that he wanted to be retained as head of BoC’s spy arm.
“We would still work until June 30. If there are illegal shipments to seize, we would do our job,” he said.
Dellosa said that there might be other current officials working to keep their posts in BoC, but it is not him.
After stepping down in office, Dellosa, in jest, said he will take care of his grandchildren.
Recently, Dellosa already had an “informal meeting” with retired Marines Lieutenant General Juancho Sabban, who is being touted as possible replacement. (Raymund Antonio)
