A poll lawyer said Vice President-elect Leni Robredo may take her oath of office before any punong barangay or village chief.
Lawyer Romulo Macalintal said under the law, a punong barangay is authorized to administer the oath of office.
“Under Republic Act 10755 approved on March 29, 2016, the punong barangay is authorized to administer the oath of office of any government official, including the president of the Republic of the Philippines,” Macalintal said.
“Hence, VP elect Robredo may take her oath of office before any punong barangay of her choice,” added Macalintal.
The camp of Robredo had said that she would take her oath of office before the chairperson of Barangay Punta Tarawal, Calabanga, Camarines Sur, in a still undisclosed place in Manila.
