MISS Zamboanga Bellatrix Tan said that she won’t stop joining beauty pageants until she gets a crown despite criticisms over her amusing reply in the interview portion of Miss Philippines Earth pageant June 11.
Tan, 20, vowed to come back and prove her detractors wrong soon.
Papakita ko sa kanila, someday po, babalik at babalik po ako sa beauty pageant,” said Tan, in an interview on “Bandila” news program on ABS-CBN.
Tan, who finished in the Top 15 of the environment-driven contest, admitted she was hurt by bashers after the beauty pageant held at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
“Alam ko ’to.
In the question-and-answer portion, Tan was asked to comment about the hashtag #ElNinoLaNina.
Tan replied: “El Niño is what we are experiencing now. If we do simple things like planting trees then we will not be experiencing drought, right? So if we start now, we will achieve La Niña.”
The video drew flak and has already garnered more than three million views.
Newly-crowned Miss Philippines-Earth Imelda Schweighart defended Tan. The German-Filipino beauty queen said that Tan was “pressured” during the contest.
