With no available post player, Alaska has opted to get an offense-minded import LaDontae Henton for the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup.
“Ang need ng team is either a post player or a scorer. The first option is not available so the team decided to have a scorer,” said Alaska assistant coach Louie Alas. Henton is set to arrive Monday at the start of the Aces’ training session.
A 6-foot-5 former stalwart at Providence, Henton led the Big East in scoring with 19.7 points per game during his senior year (2015) as he helped lead the Friars to their second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
A first team member All-conference in the Big East, the 23-year-old Henton was also named by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) as District I Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
