Nothing’s gonna stop former beauty queen-turned-actress Ma. Isabel Lopez from wearing the iconic emerald evening gown she initially wore at the Cannes film festival last month.
In her Instagram post, Lopez said that the emerald gown designed by Albert Andrada is expected to make news until July. This means that movie fans and netizens would be seeing Lopez wearing the same gown on her guesting stints until next month.
“Again (due to insistent public demand) with @albertandrada’s iconic green gown. Thanks netizens for the series of tv guestings in this attire. And for those who are getting tired of the outfit – here’s bad news!! It’s booked till July! Hahaha,” Lopez said on IG.
The actress wore the emerald gown in “Sarap Diva,” a cooking and lifestyle show hosted by Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, aired on GMA 7 every Saturday. It was the sixth time she wore the gown during a personal appearance.
Celso Caparas, pageant reporter of the Philippine Star, expressed concern that the color of the gown might fade because of over-use.
“Parang di na dark green (yung evening gown),” Caparas said.
Veteran pageant columnist Jay Patao of Malaya Business Insight said that the evening gown has generated so much publicity.
“Good or bad, it is still publicity,” Patao said.
Lopez is one of the casts of the “Ma’ Rosa” which won Best Actress for Jaclyn Jose. The film directed by Brillante Mendoza will be shown in local theaters on July 6.
Aside from Cannes and “Sarap Diva,” Lopez has worn the same gown in the noontime program “It’s Showtime,” “Mars” on GMA News TV; fashion show at One Esplanade, and at the launch of French Film Festival at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.
Lopez was the country’s representative in the 1982 Miss Universe beauty pageant in Lima, Peru and later joined show business. She was a Fine Arts graduate from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
