BaliPure, Air Force eye semis.
Games Today
(The Arena, San Juan)
1 p.m. – Navy vs Air Force (men’s)
4 p.m. – BaliPure vs Baguio (women’s)
6:30 p.m. – Air Force vs Iriga (women’s)
BaliPure and Air Force try to formalize their semifinal berths today when they collide against eliminated rivals in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The streaking Water Defenders take on the Baguio Summer Spikers at 4 p.m., while the Lady Jet Spikers square off with the Iriga Lady Oragons at 6:30 p.m.
Toting similar 4-1 win-loss records at second place, a victory for both BaliPure and Air Force would secure them Final Four seats along with unbeaten Pocari Sweat (5-0).
More than that, the Water Defenders also hope to preserve their four-game winning streak since losing their opening game match against the Lady Jet Spikers last May 30.
As usual, BaliPure will be leaning on the dynamic duo of power hitters in Alyssa Valdez and Gretchel Soltones, who combined for 31 points including 28 kills in their three-set triumph over Laoag last week.
A formidable supporting cast will also fuel BaliPure’s assault in Dzi Gervacio, Amy Ahomiro and Jem Ferrer.
But Baguio, which seeks to end its participation on a bright note after six unsuccessful attempts, is expected to give it all out with skipper Krissian Tsuchiya leading the charge.
In the other pairing, Air Force is slated to lean on its strong digs and reception after leading the said departments.
Still enjoying a five-set victory over the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs last week, the Lady Jet Spikers will parade Joy Cases, Jocemer Tapic, May Ann Pantino and Wendy Ann Semana.
