Government forces overran two Abu Sayyaf camps in Sulu as intensified operations against the militant group continue to rescue remaining hostages of the militant group, a military spokesman said yesterday.
Maj. Filemon Tan, spokesman, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom), said the camps, both in Barangay Sinumaan, Talipao, Sulu, can accommodate approximately 150 people and have running trenches with potable water within the perimeter.
“Also found in the area were hammocks, water container and other personal belongings of the Abu Sayyaf members,” Tan said.
Operating troops continue to scour and conduct blockades in the area. (Elena Aben)
