POLILLO, Quezon – A Quezon town vice mayor remained missing two days after his small motorboat capsized off Pulong Ibon in Barangay Bucao here.
An all-out search and rescue operation is under way for incumbent Polillo Vice Mayor Ramil Fajardo who has yet to be found following the sea accident on Sunday around 3 p.m.
His companion, Romeo Malaguenia, a 59-year-old fisherman, survived after swimming back into the capsized boat.
Fajardo and Malaguenia left Barangay Calutcot, Burdeos, Quezon, aboard the boat and was approaching Pulong Ibon when the accident took place.
Malaguenia said Fajardo was walking into the rear portion of the boat which suddenly turned on its side.
While both struggled to stay afloat, Malaguenia said he heard Fajardo screaming that he does not know how to swim.
After reaching the boat, Malaguenia said he could not see the vice mayor.
The search and rescue is led by local police with the assistance of the Philippine Coast Guard. (Danny Estacio)
