Actress Jodi Sta. Maria has confirmed that she is no longer in a relationship with incumbent Vice Governor Ramon “Jolo” Revilla III of Cavite.
“No. We’re no longer together. But we are friends,” said Sta. Maria, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN, when asked if they were still together.
But Sta. Maria believes that people deserve a second chance because it can work out.
“May mga naririnig naman ako na storya na dalawang magkasintahan nagkahiwalay na rin and after sometime, nagkakabalikan din sila. Posible ’yun,” said Sta Maria.
The actress did not discuss the details of the break-up.
It was in February when rumors about the split initially surfaced. Sta. Maria then just laughed off the rumors in an interview with PEP in May.
Achy Breaky Heart
Two years since the tandem of Sta. Maria and Richard Yap was introduced via the Kapamilya morning teleserye “Be Careful With My Heart,” fans still clamor for the return of the love team. They are now reunited in “Achy Breaky Hearts” which also stars Ian Veneracion.
“Natutuwa ako at hanggang ngayon, dalawang taon makalipas ipalabas ang ‘Be Careful With My Heart,’ ang init pa rin ng pagtanggap ng mga tao sa tandem namin,” said Sta. Maria, who just turned 34 last June 16.
“I’m so happy na ganun pa rin ang pagtanggap sa amin kasi maraming nag-lie low after nun and now they’re all back.
Nandito uli mga supporters namin and it feels good to see them once again for the ‘Achy Breaky Hearts’ movie,” said Yap.
The popular love team recalled the first time they met together, during the television interview.
“Si Richard kasi, bago kami nag-start ng ‘Be Careful With My Heart,’ napapanood ko na sya sa ‘My Binondo Girl’ and then when I was offered the part of Maya, dahil hindi pa kami nagkakatrabaho before, kailangan naming mag-workshop.
’Yun ‘yung first time na nagkakilala kami,” said Sta. Maria. “First instinct ko mukhang mabait naman ang taong ito.”
“The first time I saw her sa workshop namin. Tahimik lang s’ya so hindi ko sya ma-gauge at that time. Mabait naman si Jodi pero hindi ko pa sya nun kilala,” said Yap.
Asked about his edge over Veneracion, Yap, 49, laughed and said: “Maturity? I mean in terms of age lang.”
Parenting style
The stars also said that they are disciplinarians when it comes to studies of their respective children.
“I discipline my kids when it comes to studies. Strict ako sa kanila sa studies. I make sure na unahin muna nila ang studies before doing anything else. Pero hindi naman nila sinusunod,” said Yap, who has two children.
“Kay Thirdy naman meron talaga syang time sa pag-aaral then after na magawa nya lahat ng homework nya at makapag-aral, that’s the time na pwede na syang makapag-laro,” Sta. Maria said.
They also believe in corporal punishment but only in extreme cases.
“If ever na meron talaga syang hindi magandang nagagawa, I really call out his (son) attention and tell him talaga na mali ’yung ginawa nya,” Sta. Maria said.”Once ko lang yata talagang nagawa pero on exteme case lang pero after that, I had to explain to my son why para sa susunod alam na nya na hindi tama ang ginawa nya.”
Her son Panfilo “Thirdy” Lacson III is now in Grade 6.
“On extreme case lang talaga and it does not happen for a long time,” Yap added.
