CEBU CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 is studying legal moves to sequester properties owned by suspected drug lords killed by authorities recently in favor of the government.
PRO 7 head Chief Supt. Patrocinio Comendador said he has already formed a panel composed of lawyer policemen who will study the necessary moves to seize the properties of suspected drug lords Jeffrey Diaz, alias Jaguar, and Roel Secretaria, alias Yawa.
Diaz was killed in an alleged shootout with policemen in Las Piñas City while Secretaria died after engaging policemen in a gunfight in Bohol.
Comendador said Diaz owned at least 10 properties in Cebu and Manila while Secretaria owned a number of properties in the province.
The panel, headed by Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division Chief Henry Biñas, a lawyer, will study the different legal stipulations that will allow the police to seize these hot properties in favor of the government.
Comendador said these properties were acquired by the drug personalities illegally, using drug money. (Mars Mosqueda, Jr.)
