The Quezon City government has vowed to assist through the appropriate institutions the rehabilitation of the three children who were allegedly neglected and abandoned by their parents for three days in their home in Barangay Milagrosa, Project 4, Quezon City.
The three children, aged three, two, and 8½-months-old, were rescued by the Quezon City government acting on a complaint of a concerned citizen.
The two younger children were taken to the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City where they received medical attention for malnutrition and dehydration. They were also being treated for scabies and other skin irritations.
Maribel Cayco, head of the community outreach division of the Quezon City Social Services Development Department, said the city government will pay for the medical expenses of the two children. They were accompanied by volunteer workers while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The eldest has been referred to the Reception Study Center for Children of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Project 6, Quezon City.
“What we will do is refer them to appropriate institutions to help speed up their rehabilitation,” Cayco said.
Cayco said the SSDD will be closely coordinating with the DSWD on the filing of appropriate charges against the childrens’ parents. (Chito A. Chavez)
