Bounty Fresh salvaged some measure of pride in its Spikers’ Turf Season 2 Open Conference as it bested Navy, 20-25, 25-14, 17-25, 25-22, 19-17, yesterday at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.
The Bounty Fresh Spikers turned to their strong service game with 10 aces to finally nail their first victory after four straight losses in the non-bearing game.
It was also a positive way to end their campaign in the conference after getting eliminated last week.
Philip Bagalay shone with 20 points including 19 attacks, while Romnick Rico added 13 points for Bounty Fresh, which kept their composure in the crucial moments after a slow start.
Setter Geuel Asia also proved instrumental for the Bounty Fresh Spikers, coming up with 33 excellent sets including a series of impressive plays.
Navy finished its campaign without a victory after five unsuccessful attempts, despite the consistent strong efforts of Nur Amin Madsairi, Roldan Medino and Alvin Cacayuran.
Madsairi and Medino finished with 15 points apiece including combined 27 kills, while Cacayuran posted 13 points.
