A Caloocan City barangay chairman was gunned down in Quezon City yesterday.
The Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the victim as Edres Domato, chairman of Barangay 188, Tala, Caloocan.
Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve, chief of the Homicide Section of the QCPD-CIDU, said the victim was driving his black Toyota Fortuner on Quirino Highway near the La Mesa Dam in Barangay Pasong Putik at about 7:50 a.m. when two men on board a Rusi motorcycle with plate markings Duterte and wearing black helmets and black jackets appeared.
The suspects pulled out their guns fired at the victim several times, killing him on the spot, and escaped.
Monsalve said they are now determining the motive of the incident.
“Hindi pa namin nakakausap ang pamilya ng biktima. We have yet to determine the motive on why he was killed at kung may banta sa kanyang buhay bago mangyari ang pamamaril. Iyan ang masusi namin iimbestigahan,” Monsalve said.
Police probers are now combing close circuit television cameras in the area for footages of the incident and gathering information from witnesses.
“Dead on the spot ang biktima. Talagang andun ang intensyon na patayin siya,” he said. (Francis T. Wakefield)
