Games Monday (Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig)
4 p.m. – Topstar ZC Mindanao vs Phoenix
6 p.m. – Blustar Detergent vs AMA Online Education
Off-form Phoenix aims for its fifth win in as many games when it battles Topstar ZC Mindanao today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Accelerators have yet to find their true form even after being left as the only unbeaten team in the tournament, something that coach Eric Gonzales hopes would finally surface in the 4 p.m. clash with the winless Aguilas.
“Ilang games na namin yan nao-obserbahan. Parang walang fire yung mga players,” said Gonzales.
“Yung good news lang is kahit paano naitatawid namin yung panalo. Pero work in progress pa rin kami and it’s something we have to work on, yung fire ng players,” he added.
Phoenix will suit up minus star forward Mac Belo, who was meted with a one-game suspension for elbowing Ting Chun Hong in the Accelerators’ scary 97-94 victory over the Blustar Detergent Dragons.
wMeanwhile, Blustar eyes its second win after a 0-4 start opposite winless AMA Online Education in the nightcap set at 6 p.m.
Blustar, a team composed of players from the ASEAN Basketball League champion Westports Malaysia Dragons, barged into the win column last Thursday with an 89-75 romp of Topstar ZC Mindanao at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite. (Jonas Terrado)
