Defending champion Petron guns for the solo lead today when it faces struggling Cignal in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Match is slated at 6 p.m. with the Tri-Activ Spikers shooting for their third straight victory in as many games to untangle themselves from a logjam with F2 Logistics and RC Cola-Army.
Foton, meanwhile, hopes to follow up its previous victory when it clashes with winless Amy’s Kitchen at 4 p.m.
Following the exit of Rachel Anne Daquis and Aby Maraño, the trio of Aiza Maizo, Bernadeth Pons and Ces Molina have been taking charge with Remy Palma, Bang Pineda and Jen Reyes providing enough reinforcements on the floor for Petron.
But Tri-Activ spikers Coach George Pascua has told his wards not to take their upcoming foes lightly.
“Although I love the result of our previous games, it’s still a long way to go. We still need to improve our level of game,” said Pascua.
Pascua is particularly wary of its young spikers like University of Santo Tomas standout Carmela Tunay, NCAA Finals MVP Jeanette Panaga and Jannine Navarro.
In the other pairing, Foton, meanwhile, boasts of power-hitting Cherry Rondina and Jaja Santiago in front of its attack against Amy’s Lourder Clemente, Cindy Imbo and Maribeth Lara.
The Tornadoes are coming off a four-set triumph over Generika last week while Amy’s Spikers suffered back-to-back defeats from heavyweights RC Cola and F2.
