Lady archer Kareel Meer Hongitan can’t wait to string her bow for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Hongitan, a 19-year-old University of Baguio student, continues to train as she awaits a possible wildcard entry for the coming Games in August.
She will be leaving for Dumaguete City later this week to complete her training set by the World Archery Philippines (WAP).
“Pupunta naman po ako ngayon sa Dumaguete to train while waiting if makakapasok ako sa Olympics,” Hongitan told Sun.Star Baguio.
“Just like WAP has programmed, dapat hindi daw ako hihinto, wala pa naman final na announcement if accepted na yung wildcard entry ko pero dapat po kasi well-prepared pa rin.”
Hongitan reached the fourth stage of the 2016 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, the Olympic qualifier to Rio, before bowing to Great Britain’s Naomi Folkard in the women’s recurve contest.
