Jio Jalalon steered Arellano University to its second straight win with a near triple-double performance as the Chiefs routed the San Sebastian Stags, 99-81, yesterday in the 92nd NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Jalalon, a member of the Gilas Cadet team that won in the SEABA Championships last May, turned in a monster game of season-high 31 points, 11 assists and eight steals to keep the Chiefs in control.
The Cagayan de Oro native, who also hauled three boards, scattered 17 points in the second half as Arellano protected its lead all throughout to bolster its title bid early in the season.
Kent Salado also made his presence felt with 17 points, six assists and five rebounds, while American Dioncee Holts finished with 16 points off the bench.
