ZAMBOANGA CITY – Elements of the Join Task Force (JTF) Sulu recovered the decaying body of Canadian kidnap victim Robert Hall yesterday shortly before noon in Barangay Upper Kamuntayan in Talipao, Sulu.
Armed Forces of the Philippines, Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WestMinCom) Spokesman Maj. Filemon Tan, Jr., said the body was first discovered by residents of the village about 11:35 am yesterday, and immediately reported the military and police about their find.
Soldiers immediately proceeded to the village and recover the decomposing body of Hall, who was beheaded last June 13 by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) which were asking for a P300 million ransom.
Hall’s head was recovered last June 13 hours after the ASG confirmed the brutal beheading.
“The body of Hall is currently being brought by the troops to JTG Sulu Headquarters at Barangay Busbus in Jolo, Sulu for documentation before turn over to the PNP SOCO,” reported Tan.
Hall, together with John Ridsdel, Kjartan Sikkengstad and Marites Flor, were abducted last September 21, 2015 at the Ocean View Resort in Barangay Camudmud, Samal City, Davao del Norte.
Sikkengstad is still with the ASG as the terror group continues to demand for a P300 million ransom.
Tan said military operations are being conducted in the area to neutralize the ASG and rescue Sikkengstad.
