A cop was arrested after he indiscriminately fired his service firearm inside the Manila Police District headquarters on United Nations Ave. in Manila yesterday.
His colleagues identified the suspect as PO1 Vincent Paul B. Solares, 23.
The shooting incident happened at around 3:15 p.m. Witnesses said Solares arrived angry at the MPD headquarters and went to the second floor where he ran amuck and the office of the MPD district director is located.
He fired two successive gunshots while threatening to kill Manila Mayor Joseph E. Estrada and chasing his colleagues.
Solares was shouting and breaking some of the frames inside the building and some plastic bottles of water were being thrown down the stairs.
Members of the MPD Special Weapon and Tactics Team contained Solares who was wearing his uniform after 20 minutes.
The headquarters were temporarily locked down while the incident was ongoing.
Prior to the incident, Solares reportedly went to the MPD Station 4 where he first ran amuck and fired at and punched some of his colleagues who were wearing orange shirts.
